But is that a reason to go so far as to speak of political theatre? Nowadays, that concept is reminiscent of Mother Courage and The Threepenny Opera) and the film-maker and dramatist Peter Weiss (1916 - 1982, whose works include The Investigation) are regarded as outstanding representatives of political theatre in twentieth-century Germany.
