	KURZ UND SCHMERZLOS von Fatih Akin, DEALER von Thomas Arslan, APRILKINDER von Yueksel Yavuz oder LOLA UND BILIDIKID von Kutlug Ataman, so unterschiedlich sie ansonsten auch sein mögen, verbindet eine Ästhetik der Furchtlosigkeit im Umgang mit Bildern und Selbstbildern. [G]	What KURZ UND SCHMERZLOS ("Short Sharp Shock") by Fatih Akin, DEALER by Thomas Arslan, APRILKINDER ("April Children") by Yueksel Yavuz and LOLA + BILIDIKID by Kutlug Ataman have in common - however different they may be in other respects - is an aesthetic of fearlessness in the treatment of images and self-portraits.

	Zusammen mit dem Regisseur Tom Tykwer (Lola rennt) hat Ballhaus ein Interview-Buch gemacht, das unlängst in Deutschland erschienen ist - dem legendären "Wie haben Sie das gemacht, Mr. Hitchcock?" von François Truffaut nachempfunden, wenn auch nicht ganz so großartig. Ein besonderes Buch ist es trotzdem - nicht nur Ballhaus kommt in der Filmliteratur sonst nur am Rande vor, Bücher über Kameramänner sind insgesamt selten. [G]	A number of Ballhaus's interviews with German director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) have been compiled in a book that came out recently in Germany. Modelled on François Truffaut's legendary "Hitchcock", the book, though not quite a match for its model, is remarkable nonetheless: books about cameramen are generally few and far between, and Ballhaus is not the only one to be hitherto passed over, or relegated to a footnote, in film literature.
