[EU]	The scope of the protection granted under this Regulation should be clarified, in particular with regard to those limitations on registration of new trade marks set out in Directive 2008/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 October 2008 to approximate the laws of the Member States relating to trade marks [14] that conflict with the registration of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications as is already the case for the registration of new trade marks at Union level.
