The Icelandic authorities considered that the valuation of the assets in Reykjavik was very favourable to the State since they had a strategic value, based on projected future value, 'since plans were at the time of sale being made for a large bridge project closing off the Company's harbour at Saeverhöfdi in Reykjavik and thus rendering the facilities useless for the operations of the Company.
