Das Buch über Susanne Linke übernimmt als Titel den ihrer Solo-Choreografie Schritte verfolgen von 1985. In jenem Stück geht sie selber ihr Leben ab - wie in diesem Buch: Die weltberühmte Tänzerin und Choreografin erzählt von ihrer Kindheit, vom Studium, vom beruflichen Werdegang. [G]

The book about Susanne Linke takes its title from her 1985 solo dance piece Schritte verfolgen, in which she goes over her own life - just as in the book: the world-famous dancer/choreographer tells of her childhood, studies, professional career.

Die vier anderen Preisträger sind die 1929 geborene japanische Minimal-Art-Künstlerin Yayoi Kusama (Malerei), der 1944 geborene Franzose Christian Boltanski (Skulptur), der amerikanische Musiker und Pionier der minimalistischen Musik, Steve Reich, der am 3. Oktober 70 Jahre alt wird, und die 1925 in Moskau geborene Balletttänzerin Maya Plisetskaya (Theater/Film), die weltweit nationale Ballettensembles leitete und bis zu ihrem 71. Lebensjahr als Tänzerin und Choreografin aktiv war. [G]

The other four artists honoured this year are the Japanese conceptual artist Yayoi Kusama (born 1929), who receives the award for her painting, the French sculptor Christian Boltanski (born 1944), the American composer and pioneer of minimalist music Steve Reich, who will celebrate his 70th birthday on 3 October, and the ballet dancer Maya Plisetskaya, who was born in Moscow in 1925, led major ballet companies all over the world and continued to work into her 70s as a dancer and choreographer.

Und zwar ganz im Sinne der Schulgründerin Palucca - deren außergewöhnliche, schon damals Improvisation nutzende pädagogische Kunst eine ihrer berühmten Schülerinnen, die deutsch-amerikanische Tänzerin, Pantomimin und Choreographin Lotte Goslar mit dem Satz "Nicht so wie sie zu sein, aber so echt wie sie auf eigene Art, war das große Ziel" so treffend charakterisierte. One of Palucca's most famous students, the German-American dancer, pantomime artist and choreographer, Lotte Goslar, described Palucca's extraordinary teaching genius, which used improvisation even back then, so well when she said, "Not to be like her, but to be as real as her in one's own way, that was the ultimate goal".

Zu den Palucca-Absolventen gehören unter anderem die Choreographin und (Opern-)Regisseurin Ruth Berghaus, der zu DDR-Zeiten vielbeschäftigte Choreograph Harald Wandtke, die Tänzerin Marianne Vogelsang, die Tänzerin und Choreographin Arila Siegert und der Choreograph Stephan Thoss, der an der Staatsoper Hannover bis einschließlich der Spielzeit 2005/2006 die Thoss-TanzKompanie leitet. Palucca graduates include the choreographer and (opera) director Ruth Berghaus, choreographer Harald Wandtke, who was very active in GDR times, dancer Marianne Vogelsang, dancer and choreographer Arila Siegert and choreographer Stephan Thoss, who is the director of the Thoss-TanzKompanie at the Hanover state opera up to and including the 2005/2006 season.
