Besides some 80 current subscriptions to newspapers of today it contains more than 500 German-Jewish newspapers and periodicals, including the first issues of Allgemeine Zeitung des Judentums from 1837.

	In den Anfangsjahren hatte der Verein Germania Judaica neben dem Aufbau der Bibliothek noch ein zweites Standbein: Es wurden Veranstaltungen, Seminare und Vorträge zur jüdischen Kultur in Deutschland angeboten. 	Seit sich das Land Nordrhein-Westfalen Anfang 2006 aus der Finanzierung der Personalstellen zurückgezogen hat und die Germania Judaica nun allein von der Stadt Köln getragen wird, muss die Bibliothek - so absurd es klingt - ohne Bibliothekarin oder Bibliothekar auskommen. [G]	Ever since the state of North Rhine-Westphalia stopped funding the library's payroll in early 2006, and Germania Judaica became solely reliant on the support provided by the city of Cologne, the library finds itself - as absurd as this may sound - trying to survive without a librarian.
	Zudem beherbergt die Germania Judaica im Herzen Kölns auch Material zur allgemeinen jüdischen Geschichte und Kultur, zur Geschichte Israels und Palästinas sowie zur Darstellung von Juden in Literatur und Film. [G]	In addition, in the heart of Cologne Germania Judaica houses material on general Jewish history and culture, the history of Israel and Palestine and the portrayal of Jews in literature and on screen.
