	Als Nachfolgerin des öffentlichen Unternehmens British Telecommunications wurde British Telecommunications plc mit dem Telekommunikationsgesetz (Telecommunications Act) von 1984 in England und Wales als 100 %ig staatseigene Aktiengesellschaft gegründet.
