"Dieser Standort ist ideal, weil wir dorthin wollten, wo die Jugendlichen sowieso schon sind", erklärt Roman Rabe, stellvertretender Direktor der Städtischen Bibliotheken Dresden. [G]

The search for a new home ended with the selection of the sixth and seventh floors of the "Esders" department store right at the entrance to Prager Straße, the busiest shopping street in the city. "This location is ideal, because we wanted to be where the young people gather anyway ", explains Roman Rabe, Deputy Director of the Dresden City Library.

The shelves on the sixth floor are a maximum of 1.52 meters high, which means that the whole room remains visible and communication is possible in all directions. "Talking is expressly desired in our library", says Rabe, "we are not a study library, we want to be a place where young people feel at ease."
