Auf Initiative von Kölner Bürgern wurde die Germania Judaica 1959 als privater Verein gegründet, um die Öffentlichkeit über die Geschichte des Judentums in Deutschland zu informieren. [G]

Upon the initiative of some Cologne citizens it was founded in 1959 as a private association, dedicated to informing the public about the history of the Jewry in Germany.

Bisher erschienen sind Portraits der Sächsischen Landesbibliothek - Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Dresden, der Kölner Bibliothek zur Geschichte des Judentums, der Internationalen Jugendbibliothek in München, der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek in München, der Deutschen Bibliothek: Leipzig - Frankfurt am Main - Berlin, der Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel, der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, der Stadtbücherei Würzburg, der StadtBibliothek Köln und der Stadtbibliothek am Salzstadel in Rosenheim. Schwerpunkt der Sammlung ist die Geschichte des deutschsprachigen Judentums ab dem 18. Jahrhundert - mit Themen wie der Emanzipation der Juden, der Geschichte der jüdischen Gemeinden und der Verfolgung im Nationalsozialismus. [G]
