In seiner Werkstatt in Florenz entstand ein Instrument, dessen Saiten nicht mehr - wie beim Cembalo - angezupft, sondern - mit lederbezogenen Hämmerchen - angeschlagen wurden. [G] In his workshop in Florence, an instrument was created whose strings were no longer plucked - as with the harpsichord - but struck by small leather-covered hammers.
