Da bei der Herstellung von Vinylchlorid-Monomer in gewissem Umfang Wasserstoff als Ersatzbrennstoff für konventionelle Brennstoffe wie Erdgas eingesetzt wird, um die direkten Emissionen aus dem Verbrennungsprozess auf diese Weise zu verringern, unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Gesamt-THG-Effizienz Wasserstoff aber auch als Einsatzstoff vorzuziehen ist, wird bei der Berechnung der Benchmark für Vinylchlorid-Monomer der als Brennstoff verwendete Wasserstoff wie Erdgas verrechnet.
