 German  English

[G] The (English and French) orientalist(e) is indeed the classical Orientalist in German, but Orientalistik - that is, the subject that the orientalist(e) represents - equates to orientalism(e), and is thus, since Edward Said at any rate, not only a subject but also an intellectual attitude.

[G] Those who were previously known as orientalists are now political scientists, literary scholars, sociologists, historians, linguists or comparative theologians, but with an 'oriental' focus.
