	Für die Aufgabe, die die heutige DDB erfüllt - also das Sammeln, Erschließen und bibliografische Verzeichnen der deutschen und fremdsprachigen Literatur des Inlandes sowie der deutschsprachigen Literatur des Auslandes ab 1913 -, war im Jahre 1912 die Deutsche Bücherei in Leipzig, dem Zentrum des Buch- und Verlagswesens des Deutschen Reiches, gegründet worden. [G]	The Deutsche Bücherei was founded in Leipzig in 1912 to fulfil the task which is now performed by the Deutsche Bibliothek - to collect, collate and index bibliographically German literature and domestic foreign-language literature as well as literature published abroad in German from 1913 onwards. At that time, Leipzig was the German Reich's centre of printing and publishing.
