[EU]	Following an application from Unilever PLC (United Kingdom) and Unilever NV (Netherlands), submitted pursuant to Article 14(1)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, the Authority was required to deliver an opinion on a health claim related to the effects of Plant sterols on blood cholesterol and the risk of coronary heart disease (Question No EFSA-Q-2008-085) [2].
	Nach zwei Stellungnahmen der Behörde zu Pflanzenstanolen bzw. Pflanzensterolen und der Senkung/Verringerung von LDL-Cholesterin im Blut (Frage Nr. EFSA-Q-2008-085 und Frage Nr. EFSA-Q-2008-118) hat die Kommission mit der Verordnung (EG) Nr. 983/2009 [3] die gesundheitsbezogene Angabe Pflanzensterole/Pflanzenstanolester "senken/reduzieren nachweislich den Cholesterinspiegel. [EU]	Following two opinions of the Authority on plant stanols and plant sterols and lowering/reducing blood LDL-cholesterol (Question No EFSA-Q-2008-085 and Question No EFSA-Q-2008-118) [2], the Commission authorised the health claims stating that plant sterols/plant stanol esters 'have been shown to lower/reduce blood cholesterol.
