      1. One who keeps or attends a flour mill or gristmill.
  
      2. A milling machine.
  
      3. (Zo[94]l.)
            (a) A moth or lepidopterous insect; -- so called because
                  the wings appear as if covered with white dust or
                  powder, like a miller's clothes. Called also {moth
                  miller}.
            (b) The eagle ray.
            (c) The hen harrier. [Prov. Eng.]

            (a) A small fresh-water fish of the genus {Uranidea}
                  (formerly {Cottus}), as the European species ({U.

   Ray \Ray\, n. [F. raie, L. raia. Cf. {Roach}.] (Zo[94]l.)
      (a) Any one of numerous elasmobranch fishes of the order
            Rai[91], including the skates, torpedoes, sawfishes, etc.
      (b) In a restricted sense, any of the broad, flat,
            narrow-tailed species, as the skates and sting rays. See
            {Skate}.
  
      {Bishop ray}, a yellow-spotted, long-tailed eagle ray
            ({Stoasodon n[85]rinari}) of the Southern United States
            and the West Indies.
  
      {Butterfly ray}, a short-tailed American sting ray
            ({Pteroplatea Maclura}), having very broad pectoral fins.
           
  
      {Devil ray}. See {Sea Devil}.
  
      {Eagle ray}, any large ray of the family {Myliobatid[91]}, or
            {[92]tobatid[91]}. The common European species
