   Ab- \Ab-\ ([acr]b). [Latin prep., etymologically the same as E.
      of, off. See {Of}.]
      A prefix in many words of Latin origin. It signifies from,
      away, separating, or departure, as in abduct, abstract,
      abscond. See {A-}(6).
