      peindre to paint, fr. L. pingere, pictum; cf. Gr. poiki`los
      many-colored, Skr. pi[cced] to adorn. Cf. {Depict},
      {Picture}, {Pigment}, {Pint}.]
      1. To cover with coloring matter; to apply paint to; as, to
            paint a house, a signboard, etc.
