Morning \Morn"ing\, a. Pertaining to the first part or early part of the day; being in the early part of the day; as, morning dew; morning light; morning service. She looks as clear As morning roses newly washed with dew. --Shak. {Morning gown}, a gown worn in the morning before one is dressed for the day. {Morning gun}, a gun fired at the first stroke of reveille at military posts. {Morning sickness} (Med.), nausea and vomiting, usually occurring in the morning; -- a common sign of pregnancy. {Morning star}. (a) Any one of the planets (Venus, Jupiter, Mars, or Saturn) when it precedes the sun in rising, esp. Venus. Cf. {Evening star}, {Evening}. (b) Satan. See {Lucifer}.
