   Dilute \Di*lute"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Diluted}; p. pr. & vb.
      n. {Diluting}.] [L. dilutus, p. p. of diluere to wash away,
      dilute; di- = dis- + luere, equiv. to lavare to wash, lave.

            something; to thin and dissolve by mixing.
