   Extraordinary \Ex*traor"di*na*ry\, a. [L. extraordinarius; extra
      on the outside + ordinarius: cf. F. extraordinaire. See
      {Ordinary}.]
      1. Beyond or out of the common order or method; not usual,
            customary, regular, or ordinary; as, extraordinary evils;
            extraordinary remedies.
