      pine, e.g., a ship. Cf. {Pine} a tree.]

            (a) A small vessel propelled by sails or oars, formerly
                  employed as a tender, or for coast defence; -- called
                  originally, {spynace} or {spyne}.
            (b) A man-of-war's boat.
