[G]	The importance of stage design for the development of contemporary German theatre is apparent not least in the stable working alliances that many directors have formed with their stage designers: Marthaler / Viebrock, Castorf / Neumann, Stephan Kimmig / Katja Hass, Stefan Pucher / Barbara Ehnes, Sebastian Nübling / Muriel Gerstner and Michael Thalheimer / Olaf Altmann are only the most prominent examples of the artistic dialogue between equals which explains the peculiar strength of this theatre.

[G]	Although the ensemble works above all with contemporary drama, the psychological realism with which Ostermeier adapts these texts is more redolent of the house ancestors Stein and Bondy than of the current ideology-sceptical theatre forms of a Christoph Marthaler or Frank Castorf.
