[G]	For a long time the debate has revolved around 3 questions: Whether the "European social model", whatever form it takes, can be applied to the emerging global community, whether it even has a chance of surviving global competition, whether it is still a worthy goal in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations when all over the world more people are having to accept cutbacks in social security in order to keep their jobs, or even get a job in the first place.
	Die Gesetzgebung der EU muss die Verträge der Welthandelsordnung mindestens ebenso berücksichtigen wie die Belange der Mitgliedstaaten. [G]	EU legislation has to give at least as much consideration to the WTO agreements as it does to the needs of its member states.
	Ende Januar 2005 hat EU-Handelskommissar Peter Mandelson die Forderung erhoben, in den laufenden WTO-Verhandlungsrunden (Doha-Runde) diesen Sektor verstärkt anzugehen. 	Am 11.
